Job Description

A California-based civil litigation firm has represented public entities for decades and is known for its strong track record in complex, high-exposure matters. The practice regularly handles cases in both state and federal courts and has earned top professional ratings within the legal community.

The firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its public-entity defense team. This role offers substantial responsibility, the opportunity to work on a wide variety of litigation matters, and an environment that values high-quality advocacy and collaborative case strategy.


The Associate Attorney will work on cases involving public entities, including claims related to civil rights, torts, employment, and other areas of government liability. The ideal candidate brings strong litigation skills, the ability to manage a busy caseload, and a commitment to delivering excellent work under deadlines.

Responsibilities
* Manage a full caseload with appropriate independence
* Conduct legal research and assist in developing litigation strategies
* Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and appellate-level briefing
* Participate in hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials
* Maintain clear and timely communication with clients
* Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and litigation staff

Qualifications
* Juris Doctor and active membership in the California Bar
* 1+ years of civil litigation experience
* Strong legal writing, research, and analytical abilities
* Effective oral communication and courtroom presence
* Strong organizational and time-management skills
* Trial or deposition experience is a plus
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
